Clean Standards & Sourcing
Our Clean Coffee Commitment
At Halter & Hearth, “clean” means coffee crafted with care at every step, from farm to roast. We partner with a specialty private‑label roaster that focuses on sustainable practices, careful processing, and small‑batch roasting, so we can offer high‑quality, safe, and delicious coffee you can feel good about drinking every day.
We apply the same mindset to our tea, choosing partners who prioritize quality and responsible growing practices, including minimizing or avoiding synthetic pesticides whenever possible.

Our Coffee Standards
- Responsible farming and processing: We curate select coffees from farms and co‑ops that prioritize sustainable practices and careful post‑harvest processing to help prevent mold and mycotoxin development.
- Roasting as a safety step: A roasting process as a natural “kill step” to help reduce microbial risks while preserving flavor.
- Spot testing and quality checks: Lots are evaluated for cup quality and process, and our partner conducts spot testing and ongoing quality monitoring as part of their program.
- Small‑batch, handcrafted roasting: Coffee is roasted in small batches using dialed‑in profiles to bring out the best in each lot, then packed fresh for our customers.
Our Tea Standards
- Quality‑first sourcing: We choose tea partners who prioritize quality leaves, careful processing, and responsible growing practices.
- Lower‑input agriculture where possible: We look for growers and blenders who minimize or avoid synthetic pesticides whenever possible, and we continue to improve our standards as more options become available.
Sourcing & Sustainability
We believe great coffee should do good beyond the cup, so we intentionally work with a roaster that invests in sustainability, farmer support, and community impact. Through our partnership with Temecula Coffee Roasters:
- Every bag of coffee sold supports World Coffee Research, a non‑profit that helps coffee farmers adapt to climate change by developing resilient, high‑quality coffee varieties.
- For each pound of coffee sold, our roaster funds the planting of a tree through the Trees for Education program in Kenya—supporting both reforestation and children’s education, with thousands of trees already planted.
- A majority of retail packaging and shipping materials are compostable or curbside recyclable, helping reduce waste from farm to your doorstep.
Who roasts our coffee?
Halter & Hearth doesn’t own a roasting facility. Instead, we do what many specialty coffee brands and cafés do: we partner with an expert roaster whose values and quality standards match our own. Temecula Coffee Roasters specializes in wholesale and private‑label roasting—they roast and pack the coffee, and we focus on defining our clean standards, choosing the coffees that fit them, and bringing them to you with education, recipes, and a consistent experience.
Put simply: they handle the craft of roasting; we handle what we stand for, which coffees we select, and how we serve and support you as a customer. It’s the same model as your favorite café that partners with a roaster—you just get it delivered to your door.
